Artist Statement

Painting is my favorite medium because of its fluid, responsive nature, at times feeling almost alive in its movement. To invite uncertainty and emergence into the work, I use drips, staining, spray techniques, and layered masking, allowing chance to play a role alongside intention.

Influenced by surrealist collage and formalist traditions, my paintings embrace abstraction, ambiguity, and moments where representation blurs into the unfamiliar. I am drawn to the space where the sublime and the spiritual intersect with the ordinary and material. This is echoed through material choices: matte and sheen, saturation and restraint, opacity and translucence.

My compositions unfold intuitively, revealing themselves over time. Like divinations or unresolved narratives, they invite reflection rather than resolution, requiring the viewer’s presence to complete their stories.
