Apex Healer: The Wolf’s Prayer is a series of watercolor and ink illustrations depicting the complex being that is the Wolf.

Wolves evoke polarized emotional responses in humans; feelings of reverence, awe, and wonder on one end of the spectrum, and fear, hatred, and vilification on the other. To love the wolf is to respect and accept all aspects of the wolf. The importance of apex predators is evident through reintroductions of wolves to areas where they were previously eliminated by bounty hunters. The healthy balance they provide for wilderness and all creatures is why I have chosen for this body of work the title Apex Healer.

These paintings are invitations to encounter wolves and wilderness as a whole as integral to the fabric of reality, rather than as static symbols on the fringe of a human-centric world.  This body of work focuses on the inherent spirituality of wolves as expressed through their intelligence, familial bonds, and relationships within the ecological systems they inhabit.

Apex Healer is an evolving project. I invite you to return as the series continues to unfold. The timeline of this project includes printing in a tarot card format and large scale versions of select paintings. To stay abreast of the project, please explore the options below.
